CyberCanon 2026
Welcome to our first newsletter of 2026!
As we begin a new year, we take a moment to reflect on the growth our community has achieved throughout 2025 and also give a glimpse of what is ahead. From expanding committee leadership to growing our digital presence and launching new initiatives, 2025 has prepared us for a successful 2026. This month’s update highlights where we have been, where we are going, and how our community shows up in meaningful ways.
2025 by the Numbers:
In 2025, our community continued to grow in both size and impact. With 50 committee members contributing their time and expertise as of December 2025, we strengthened our leadership structure and expanded our capacity to support new initiatives.
Book Reviews:
With the dedication and support of our book reviewers, we published 29 new reviews in 2025, bringing our total to 226 published reviews by the end of December and 197 reviews when the website launched in May 2025. Among these outstanding reviews, some have earned recognition in our Hall of Fame.
Some Books that made it in our Hall of Fame include:
Sandworm: A New Era of Cyberwar and the Hunt for the Kremlin’s Most Dangerous Hackers by Andy Greenberg
Project Zero Trust by George Finney
How to Measure Anything in Cybersecurity Risk by Douglas W. Hubbard and Richard Seiersen
LinkedIn Growth and Digital Presence:
With the help of Jonathan Cote, who has played a key role in strengthening our digital presence through consistently posting amazing content, our LinkedIn community has grown significantly. Starting in May, we nearly doubled our LinkedIn Followers and increased engagement activity by over seven times, growing our audience by ~25% on Bluesky and Mastodon. This brought our total to nearly 4,000 followers on LinkedIn, 200 on Mastodon, and 750 on Bluesky. All of this growth occurred within the last eight months of the year. Throughout this timeframe, we consistently published original content several days a week, and we plan to continue these efforts through 2026.

Substack
We launched our first newsletter on Substack in June, and since then, our community has grown significantly, now reaching about 700 subscribers with an average open rate of 40%. We are excited to continue bringing you high-quality content this year with more book reviews and other engaging content planned throughout the year. Subscribe to stay connected and make sure you don’t miss what’s ahead.
Volunteer Growth and Engagement
Thanks to the commitment of ambitious individuals, volunteer engagement continued to grow throughout 2025, reaching 32 active volunteers as of December 2025.
RSA Conference:
As we look ahead, we are preparing for the RSA Conference. We expect a strong presence from our Canon members. RSA represents a significant opportunity to connect, learn, and share what CyberCanon represents. We will keep you updated on opportunities to hear and meet Hall of Fame authors, CyberCanon committee members, and our team of volunteers. More to come as we get organized for a great RSA 2026. This year's theme is “ The Power of Community,” which is very well fitting for the CyberCanon community.
